No Lack of Common Cents

Some pissed off Republicans are displaying their pissed-off-edness by donating pennies to Perry's campaign. So far, "more than a dozen" have done so. Wow! More than a dozen! That could be, like, thirteen people!

Or fifteen:

Perry's latest campaign contribution report filed this week listed 15 Houston-area donors who gave 5 cents or less. Some said they got the idea from radio talk show host Edd Hendee, who is part of KSEV's lineup. The station owner is Dan Patrick, who also has fired up listeners against the governor's school and tax reform plan. Patrick won the GOP nomination this spring for a Houston-area state Senate seat.
Oh, Patrick. I can't wait to see what crazy shit he pulls once he's in office. By the way, did anyone know that Chuck Norris endorsed Patrick? How fucking sweet is that. I bet Patrick will be able to swing some votes solely based on the general population's fear of Chuck's fists. Plus, since when did Chuck Norris' endorsement become worthy enough to put on the front page of your website? Chuck should be counting his lucky stars for the hilarity of the Chuck Norris facts.

Okay, that was a slight tangent. Regarding the penny donations, Perry's campaign is taking it in stride, with the spokesperson saying that "[t]he governor appreciates every contribution - large and small." But Perry's attempts at pushing the results of the special session as a giant tax cut aren't working with everyone:

... [T]hat message didn't mollify retiree Sam Haskett of Simonton, who reacted in an extreme way when the governor spoke to him via a TV commercial that touted new law.

"I threw a shoe at my TV, and my wife got mad at me," he said. "But it was an old TV, and it's terrible what he's doing."

Here's hoping that Sam attends a Perry campaign event in the near future. With really heavy cowboy boots on.

I'd be willing to donate my steel-toed clogs for the occasion...

When I took a NRA basic pistol class they talked about TV actors that showed good gun skills vs. those that don't. Chuck showed up in the "don't" pile. Would a conservative really want an endorsement from someone even the NRA makes fun of?
