Go F*ck Yourself

The Cheney family was born with a sailor's mouth. In her new book Mary Cheney, Dick's lesbian daughter, apparently refers to John Kerry as a "son of a bitch" for mentioning that she was lesbian. Sitting in the audience during the vice presidential debates, when John Edwards brought up the issue of her sexuality, she mouthed the words "Go Fuck Yourself" to him. You'll remember her father used that same phrase in referring to Sen. Patrick Leahy on the floor of the Senate.

Mary, now that you've gone public with your mouth, I'd like to invite you to become a blogger here on PinkDome. We love people that can cuss out elected officials.

And ahem, publishers, I'm ready for my book deal, I can talk shit about electeds with the best of them. And as far as John Edwards going and fucking himself, I'd say don't knock it. It's sex with someone he loves.

If I was John Edwards I'd f*ck myself too. At least 3 times a day.

yeah baby at May 10, 2006 4:31 PM

Why is mentioning that she's a lesbo a bad thing? Of all the lesbians I know (which, coincidentally, will be the title of a book I'm writing about the special session), none of them would be upset with me pointing out that they are, in fact, lesbians.

Mary Cheney's such a crybaby. As if anyone is going to read her book... it's just going to end up landfill when the lobbyists throw away the 8 million copies they'll buy to make sales look good.

original TREY at May 10, 2006 4:49 PM

If I were Mary, I wouldn't go hunting with my dad any time soon.....

texxas redd at May 10, 2006 4:56 PM

TREY--because the statement was calculated to make MC's homosexuality into a political issue. So Chelsea and Barbara have sex with men--do their personal lives make their fathers any more or less qualified to hold office?

I would think that progressives on this blog would be particularly hostile to making gender preference--anyone's gender preference--a political issue. The fact that Kerry would stoop to such a dispicable tactic should have given pause to anyone who calls themselves "progressive."

As for the book, you're absolutely right. I could not care less about the trials and tribulations of Dick Cheney's daughter.

Bubba Galt at May 10, 2006 5:43 PM

i just like talking shit to elected officials

RawHide at May 10, 2006 5:44 PM

Her sexuality wasn't the issue. It was the fact that the Bush administration felt like using gays and lesbians as political tools, whipping up the conservative right into a frenzy over the possibility of gays and lesbians getting - gasp - married.

Oh. The horror.

SuperWow! at May 10, 2006 5:46 PM

SuperWow!--I was hoping somebody would say that. Because, you know, I'm sure that nobody would have cared if GW had said "Marriage is a good thing, but sometimes good people have irreconcilable differences. I'm sure if you ask John Kerry's first wife, she would agree." (Subtext--JOHN KERRY HAS COMMITTED A SIN BY GETTING A DIVORCE! (Vote for me because of your dislike of Kerry's personal choice that will likely have no impact on his performance in office.)) Or, "Immigrants are extremely important to the United States. I'm sure that Theresa, an immigrant from Africa, could tell you a great deal about her unique contributions to our great country." (Subtext--JOHN KERRY HAS MARRIED A FURNER! (Vote for me because of your dislike of Kerry's personal choice that will likely have no impact on his performance in office.))

GW's policy on homosexuality was NOT the issue--it was the fact that Kerry tried to remind everyone who might have a problem with MC's sexual predilictions that CHENEY'S DAUGHTER IS A LESBIAN. In this case, it's not even Cheney's own behavior--it's that of his daughter. That's disgusting. You should be disgusted.

Kerry was a son of a bitch for making the statement.

Bubba Galt at May 10, 2006 6:08 PM

I wouldn't use the word "disgusted," but no doubt - I don't think it was a wise thing to bring up (twice - Edwards and Kerry) for both political or personal [ethical] reasons. Family should be off limits. Period.

And I can understand how someone might interpret their intent behind the statements in a manner such as yours.

But I still believe the intent was more a "they'll even fuck over their own family members" type of deal. Although it was probably a combination of the two.

SuperWow! at May 10, 2006 6:14 PM

To-MAY-to, to-MAH-to. It's a low blow.

Bubba Galt at May 10, 2006 6:20 PM

i still only want to talk shit to elected officials.

RawHide at May 10, 2006 6:31 PM

(Vote for me because of your dislike of Kerry's personal choice that will likely have no impact on his performance in office.))

That's fucking ridiculous. Edwards wasn't saying that Mary's homosexuality would have an impact on Cheney's ability to perform in office. That's a flawed analogy. Another flaw in your analogy?? Kerry's divorce was a choice, yes. Some say that homosexuality is NOT a choice.

RockStar at May 10, 2006 6:39 PM

Ok, here's the deal. If my daughter is a monkey-trainer - whether she was born to be a monkey-trainer or whether she decided that she really liked well-behaved monkeys - then I really have no room to complain if, when I am running for office someone says, "You know, your daughter trains bad monkeys."

Now, if I have run on a plank that says monkey-trainers are sub-human and not deserving of the full protection of the law, then I'll probably get sore about it.

Having said that, it's a low blow to bring family into the mix. My daughter has worked as a stripper (no monkeys involved, as far as I know) and if someone brings it up with respect to my ability to hold office - I'll blast them for it. BUT - my political stance would not marginalize my daughter or anyone else for how they make their living.

So, Edwards and Kerry were straight up stupid to bring up Mary Cheney's sexuality. I'm sure he'd have been offended if Dickie said, "I"m sure the Edwards both loved their dead child..." There were no points to be made in bringing it up.

But the outrage from the Cheneys was as fake as his hunting trip.

As far as telling Senators to go Fuck themselves, I'm all for it. In fact, I think we should hire people to do it and bring them down a notch. Having your ass kissed continually for twenty years is bad for your character.

I think John Edwards could have made a ton of points if, when Mary Cheney mouthed "Go Fuck Yourself" he would have said, "I appreciate the invitation, but if I want a piece of ass, I'll take it from you and do it from here."

Yeah, he still would have lost the election, but it would have been funny as hell.

The reply to Cheney during picture-day in the Senate? Go Fuck Yourself!

No thanks, Mr. VP. I'd have to deprive your wife of too much oral pleasure to do so.

Xpatriated Texan at May 10, 2006 6:51 PM

Sorry, her Dad is a leader in a party that wants to make her a second class citizen. Kerry and Edwards were pointing out a very obvious fact (SuperWow! is right), they'll fuck over even their own family.

As for mentioning Kerry's divorce, that would have really backfired had he done it himself. Of course, he had his surrogates out at the convention wearing purple heart bandaids and talking about his divorce.

Kerry was a son of a bitch? Shit, Bubba... when it comes to rolling-around-in-shit, our guys can't even come close. That's why we're trying to help them out a little.

Fuck Mary Cheney's whiney ass-clown complaints. And fuck her dad, too.

original TREY at May 10, 2006 8:40 PM

I've been sitting here trying to decide if I'm a complete and total asshole for not having a problem with a candidate bringing up the (blatant) sexual orientation of his opponent's offspring, when the opponent himself is knowingly, with intent, fomenting hostility towards that orientation in order to get his ass elected.

Seems to me the opponent is the asshole for standing on that issue and opening the door. If she'd been in the closet, it might be different. But she was openly gay, closet wide open, supporting Dad-the-gay-basher? And he supported the party platform against his own daughter? How do these people sleep at night? All those new and improved sleeping aids, I guess. (I love the butterfly. Look how pretty!)

But maybe it's just me.

Don't Mess w/ Pink at May 11, 2006 1:07 AM

I think Mary Cheney's little memoir deserves to hit the remainder bin next month.
She has spent years working at places like Coors, making her living off doing pr to the gay and lesbian community for utter slimebuckets. Smiling along with her father's last campaign was just a continuation of that life trend-- and neither she nor he had the minimal cojones required to utter the smallest public peep about the Republican Christofascist gay-bashing during the 2004 campaign. She is a parasite on the community that she and her beloved Heather perforce belong to.

MaryOGrady at May 11, 2006 5:50 AM

Heather is her GF's name? Oh, how tacky.

original TREY at May 11, 2006 10:00 AM

Hey XT where does your stripper daughter show off her knockers?

Jake at May 11, 2006 10:39 AM

Mary Cheney wasn't involved in the 2004 election just as Dick Cheney's daughter. She CHAIRED HIS CAMPAIGN. If Cheney had had a lesbian campaign chair who wasn't his daughter, in the year that his running mate is running on a platform of banning gay marriage, I think it's fair game for a quick mention. That Mary's also his daughter doesn't change things.

P.S. Bubba: See if you can get comfortable with "sexual orientation" rather than "gender preference" or "predil[e]ction." Thanks!
