Alas, Tom Delay is gone. Who's gonna replace him? Rumors abound...Robert Eckels, Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, John Devine, Robert Talton, Charlie Howard, Kyle Janek, and most prominently David Wallace, mayor of Sugar Land.
Who is Mr. Wallace? Well, seeing as CD-22 is Bob Perry's backyard, it would seem that Wallace is the pick of money bags Perry. Wallace serves as the chairman of the investments committee of Perry Properties Realty Investment Fund & Perry Properties (QR), and has some fairly profitable land deals going on with Perry (link via TheRedState).
His website is under construction, getting ready to launch with a swank new (Jeff Norwood designed?) congressional face on it.
He's dropped $15k into the Fort Bend Republican Party, as well as another $6k into Victor Carrillo's bank account.
He testified in D.C. in front of the House Subcommittee on Water Resources. After a cursory glance at the testimony, I've hence concluded that it's too boring to read, though I did glean some pro-privatization talk (no surprise there).
Finally, we know that he is in some sort of contact with Jeff Norwood of Anthem Media. You'll remember Norwood as one of the assholes behind the Leininger 5 attacks, his name pops up all over the Ethics Commission Leininger expenditures reports.
Basically we have a new candidate with fingerprints of Perry and Leininger and status quo Republicans all over his body. Want more of the same bullshit down in CD-22? Support Wallace. Want a better choice? Go give Nick Lampson some cash.
That's the funniest non-photoshopped pic of Delay I've seen in awhile. Looks like his pubes are marching up his chest to eat his face as he screams in terror.
no, no, no - It's some sort of mutant bug - come to get revenge in the name of his murdered ancestors...
I think Wallace will win support from the GOP base.
The 22nd District is simply too conservative for a Democrat to walk in there without the incumebt GOPer having gone through some sort of major scandal.
The district was drawn to elect republicans, and it will continue to do so.
