So James Leininger is trying to plant pro-voucher folks into the Texas House, and he's even gone as far as helping boost a fellow partisan into an unpartisan job at the Texas Legislative Council. On that note, I'd say we need to spank him right back. Rumors abound about thousands of his dollars sinking into Ben Bentzin's campaign, so let's make sure Donna Howard takes that seat. Terry Keel left HD 47, so let's plant a Democrat in there.
I had the opportunity yesterday to meet Valinda Bolton, Democratic candidate for HD 47. She's an incredible woman who is passionate about delivering HD 47 to Democrats. She's adamantly opposed to vouchers and she worked against Proposition 2's passage; two qualities I'm a big fan of in a candidate.
So go get to know the candidates, give them some money. We may not have Leininger's cash, but we can still make a difference.
Valinda, along with primary challengers Jason Earle and Eric Beverly recently interviewed with BOR for their 40/40 project. I'd encourage you all to read up and get educated on the race. The only thing is, now that BOR has a whole new spiffy web design up, I'm not really sure where their archives are. They were here and here, I'll update the links when I find them.
So yeah, screw you Leininger, we're going to take back the House the old fashioned way.
The archives will return in a week or two.
Rawhide, you are correct. The only reason one guy, or a small group of guys, can have so much influence is because a vast majority of the folks are blissfully ignorant of what is going on. Keep up the loyal opposition. Good question about government subsidies. What the fuck?
It's like Christmas Day when Leininger starts writing checks. By the time all is said and done, people all over Texas will be ready to lynch him.
How much does the government pay for one of his hospital beds?
