On Newstands This Week

texasmonthlycover.jpg Texas Monthly has a great feature they let us preview about Texas' contribution to the war in Iraq. More than our fair share of mourning? Be sure to check out this special issue.

Also on newstands this week is the famous Tom Ford issue of Vanity Fair. James Wolcott's article, Dressed to Kill, is a scathing piece on George's penchant for dressing up in military garb to garner support for the war and how some military officials have a growing concern for his politicization of the armed forces.

And then damnnn, did y'all pick up the Austin Chronicle? Well, if you aren't in Austin that's a big, D'er no. But here's the link to a story we totally missed. NASA political appointee tried to silence scientists from talking to NPR about global warming and told them to inject 'intelligent design' into any speaking opportunities discussing the cosmos. Turns out George Deutsch, the appointee, had lied on his resume and had not graduated from Texas A&M like he said on his resume. Guess it's ok to lie about everything...global warming is a hoax, and so was my degree!!

Look at us, we read!

Um, PD, where ya' been, out in the shit house drinkin' gin?

The Deutsch twenty-something in age funnies have been all over the net for at least a week -

As for TM, saw the heroes pix about two days ago, I forget the site - I was struck by the age of the young Marines, predominantly brown, if memory serves. All those young lives - fucking Republican draft dodgers should all be in jail -

And the Army is only now starting to worry that W is ruining it? I'm not even a solider, and I've been writing about this for over a year. Actually, I'm afraid that the military will be forced to stage a coup if the congress doesn't do its job and impeach the whole lot of 'em. But with Diebold, there's no chance of that. Sigh. Monday blues, maybe....
