It's been said already, but way to go HD 48! Bentzin modeled his campaign in the style of Perry's, spending loads of cash, pretending that all is well with the status quo, and even bringing the Governor himself out on the trail on Monday. None of that worked at all. Over 60% of the voters in HB 48 cast their ballots for a Dem. Had 73 more people bothered to turn out and vote for Howard, the race would be over. It's no matter though, because more attention will be paid to that district now, and more people will see how flawed the Perry/Bentzin/Big Money machine really is. Hey Bentzin, good luck pulling those Birkenstocks out of your ass now. There's loads of coverage elsewhere, but here's the AAS's version.
For all the good feeling Dems have about last night's results, I still get worked up and mad as hell that the Democrats can't get themselves organized. If there had been one Democratic candidate - just one! - then the race would be over.
Benny wouldn't get a second shot at it.
And Pinkdome could put down the White Zin and pick up his laptop for some serious Special Session blogging.
