Don't know how this one slipped by me last week, but it looks like Perry's plan for taxing strip clubs was reincarnated into HB 3. Yet one more facet of this bill that lends it that much credibility. Apparently the amendment's author, Rep. Will Hartnett, hates strip clubs. The FW Star Telegram has it:
Hartnett calls strip club owners 'unsavory folks.' He said by phone Friday that he wishes he could close down the bars instead of taxing them...'The power to tax is the power to destroy,' he said.
Woo-hoo. The power to destroy. So that's why they've been shouldering the burden onto all those poor people. Good riddance I say. Destroy them all, strip clubs, poor people...have we figured out a way to tax gay people yet?
If the power to tax is the power to destroy, what does an increase in the sales tax indicate? They want to destroy consumption? Hmm.
"PD, you just don't get it! Normal guys (of course by normal I mean straight, white, Christian guys) deserve to have a little fun! A little piece on the side along with a quicky trip to Vegas is just what we do. And, yes, a peek at an unsavory film every now and then with a little stretch on the 'ol Form 1040 never hurt anyone now did it? Just leave us alone now! We built this country, along with some help from the black folk! And we run it still.
Now them homsexuals, they are the evil ones. They lie with other men in contradiction to what the Good Book says! They will burn in the hell fire forever! Amen"
A tax on gays? Didn't they accomplish that with the 20% tax increase on alcohol...?
HMMMM. I'm not sure what is entailed in a gay mans life but I'm a guy and I figure its the same. I'm sure gay men like to get boozed up and get laid I'm pretty sure that they like lap dances too. I'm sure there is a lot of sex, after all they are guys. So, after this sex comes cigarettes. I'm straight and i happen to love booze, cigarettes, sex, drunken sex, and lap dances. If you ask me i think this is an attack on males in general, gay or not. Wait a damn minute!!!! I know a butt load of chicks that like the same things.... So I'm going with an attack on having a kick ass time. I believe Hartnett to be plain ole un American, because all that stuff makes me happy, and this tax bill is hindering my pursuit of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and happy hour. This is screwing with my constitutional rights. Them Assholes. But i think you get it PD!!!
elected officials are sooooo sexy when they quote John Marshall.
Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.

Just wait until they start taxing (destroying) Democrats, or better yet, LIBERALS! They could start by adding a significant tax to those pesky "Adios, MoFo" t-shirts, and move on to other liberal consumer goods like old volkswagen beetles and herbal teas.
The funny thing is, I bet if you asked 10 card-carrying, Republican businessmen where they ate lunch today, 9 would say "strip club" (assuming they told the truth, which is a big assumption).
