Once Again, You Piss Me Off

Because I have to defend Senator Hillary Clinton. The GOP has lambasted Senator Clinton for comparing President Bush to Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman. bush_alfred_e_neuman.JPGThe GOP said she was insulting the President and she was part of the "angry and adrift Democratic Party."

Aw shit, it's on now. Where in the hell was the righteous indignation when some asshole wrote a book suggesting that President Clinton raped her to conceive their child?

Angry? Ok, sure I bet the Democrats are angry...because the GOP is pissing them off!

And comparing President Bush to a cartoon character is insulting? We've come up with far more insulting references to President Bush before we've had our morning coffee. Talk about easy target. Jeesh!

I guess what really pisses me off is that CNN considers this shit worthy enough to be on their front page at CNN.com. I guess there was no rich white girl abducted today. Pitiful.

I don't know what to say except "Amen to that." The shit that passes for journalism these days is just infuriating.

There was a time that being a journalist meant searching for the truth. Most of what you see on the 24-hour networks and with the MSM in general is really just the kind of fluff I would expect to see from Lindsay Lohan's publicist, not serious newspeople.

I'm not saying blogs are going to take over, I'm just saying that people who get paid to cover politics should do their freakin' job.

I thought Sen. Clinton was being rather gracious in her remarks. Hell of a lot nicer than anyone from Texas is to that carpetbagger.

Unfortunately, this is what a large portion of the American people want from their nightly news watching/surfing/listening. The News has turned into another sitcom, dumbed down for the lowest common denominator. I shudder to think of the people who use the News as their basis for making decisions about things like which guy to elect President.

what's sad is that they don't cover the issues hillary raised: the deficit, tax cuts, giving money to halliburton instead of our soldiers and iraq, and cutting scientific research.

they didn't have to focus on a cartoon character. but they did.

You know the only thing that gives me hope in mainstream media? The Daily Show (if you can call that mainstream -- but everybody's watching it). That gives me hope. I see all these kids watching it and loving it, and it is actually influencing their opinions. That's a positive development. The rest are awful. (Although Time magazine basically outing Rove on the Plame case was interesting, to say the least.)

The Republicans are being hypocritcal? Surely you are mistaken! All of this shit has just gotten to the point that I don't even listen to anything these right-wing dicks (hey, i'm only insulting myself) have to say.

As for the media, let's not shoot the messenger. Let's shoot the messenger's bosses. The kind of journalism we get today is because of the spineless weasels who are newsroom managers and who want only to make their bonuses and screw the reporter who takes all the flak. These same people rant and rave about ethics (If you are a reporter don't dare let some source buy you a drink) while they let all this shit get by them that should be on page 1. Hey, look at Matt Cooper and Time.

But I digress.

Another reason to like Hillary Clinton -- she's a 'Mad Magazine' reader!
