Well, it's up to the Senate now to strip the amendment out of the full bill. Otherwise, Child Protective Services is going to have to hire some full-time HomoInvestigators. Where can we apply? See how your favorite adulterer, hatemonger, idealogue esteemed legislator voted here.
The amendment that was heard round the world is mentioned and affectionately referred to as a big stinking pile of shit at BOR, 100 Monkeys Typing, Appalachia Alumni, Austin American Statesman, AAS Lasso, Dallas Morning News, Houston Chron, Grits For Breakfast and the LGRL Blog (if we left you out, add your link in the comments)...starting to get the idea that both the media and the fake media (see? we're self-depreciating!) think this amendment is a bad idea? It takes children out of loving homes, it has a huge fiscal note, it's a violation of the right to privacy, probably unconstitutional, and oh yeah...homophobic. Way to go!
update from Bluebonnet: Lasso is posting some e-mails he's gotten about the amendment. Good stuff.
Do the legislators wear gloves to protect their knuckles from being bruised as they drag them along the ground? Or what?
patrick rose is either a bigot or a opportunistic coward who plans to use the bigotry of others for his own political gain. not sure which is worse. either way, fuck him.
It is completely ridiculous that the Texas Legislature would do this. It is hard enough for CPS to find houses for these children currently, let alone after they make GLBT people second class citizens even more.
In light of these attacks on the GLBT Families, StandOut has decided to hold a rally/protest at the capitol (at congress and 11th) on Friday April 20, 2005. StandOut is a UT student organization that advocates for issues that affect the GLBT community. We will be there at 12:30 on Friday and it should last to about 2 or 2:30. So, if you can make it out to the capitol on Friday (on your lunch break or whenever) stop by and make your voice heard.

Haven't you heard? Talton has courageously stepped up to adopt foster kids. Thank the Lord they'll be raised right.

Well I made a small post on it too, but the blog's acting up so I can't find a link to it.
I also just did a post for HB 4 - it's some sneaky shit...
Nevermind - here it is, it just came up:

I briefly mention it at the end of the post though - I mainly talk about privatization.
But yay Talton for trying to make Texas THE ONLY state that would ban homosexual couples from becoming foster parents.
I said something, but ya'll have my proxy on indignation.

Call the members of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee...the Senate is our only hope. And while you are at it call Talton's office 463-0460 and let him know what you think of him and his amendment...they have already pulled thier fax and were all upset because they have recieved over 500 emails from those homos. Talton must go!! Let's all move to his district with our queerness and give it to everyone else. It will be just like San Fran..kinda.
