We've had a lot to say about Mary Denny not bringing the campaign finance reform bill before her committee this session, and we will have a lot to say about Craddick flip-flopping on his pledge before he became leader (after the jump), but now we'd like to join Mary Denny (who said she's afraid that campaign finance reform bills would limit free speech) in an excercise of our own.
We got you started, with our caption of this photo but we challenge each of you to come up with your own caption by putting a thought bubble on this photo of Mary Denny. We'll post the best here with mad photoshop skillz. You may leave your caption in the comments section (anonymously as always) or email them to us at tipsATpinkdomeDOTcom.
Here's what the DMN story says:
While Mr. Craddick has said that he will remain neutral on the campaign finance bill, he is being confronted with a pledge he made when he first became the speaker-designate. At the time, Republicans felt stifled by the Democratic leadership and he said any legislation with widespread support would come to the floor for debate.
"Any member who can present a convincing argument for a bill and garner support for it among the members will be afforded the chance to move that legislation through the parliamentary process," Mr. Craddick said then.
FLIP FLOPPER. Mr. Craddick, you're breaking the promise you made to Texans. In elementary school someone may have called this an "Indian Giver" (uhm, where does that phrase come from anyway? Is it racially insensitive and have I just offended someone? Not that I care.) and some people in elementary school would have probably beat the ass of the kid.
We were the kind of kid that lobbied other kids to beat someone's ass. That's cause we rock hardcore.
I smell dounuts....mmmmm
I asked for Ensure and that smart-alecky little bitch brings me a Slim-Fast, in Mocha no less. Her ass is grass (when I'm done with this)!
PinkDome says, ok folks...BORING with the food remarks, come on..unleash some creativity on our ass!
i.e., Oh HELL no, I know Senfronia isn't wearing the same outfit as I am. I will so have to kick some ass.
Oh, my!! My underwear is creeping up my butt. Wait, that's just my thong!!!
HAR!
"Dunnam may be a Liberal, but ooh, in those jeans - he makes me feel all...unethical."
Oooohhhhhhh......Sylvester Turner looks yummy today.
I can't think of any witty captions. My brain is in post-traumatic stress mode after you planted the idea of Mary Denny fucking her way to the top.
And me all out of Ativan. Fuck.
You've outdone yourself this time P.D. -- Denny sleeping her way to the top. Ewwwwwwwwwww!
"Pssh, there goes Senfronia again. What happened to the good old days when we could have a separate but equal legislature?"
"No Pink Dome, I am not in fact a frumpy female impersonator's anti-ethics ventriloquist dummy."
Hmm. Pinkdome's blogging seems to decrease when Dunnam's state computers are being used for official business, like writing a rebuttal to Terry Keel.
Why do those Hollywood liberals keep calling me for the main part in "Tommy Boy 2?"
...just so you know I still believe marriage is between one man and one woman
hey wondering....bite it!
Yes, you caught us! PinkDome is Rep. Dunnam!
There will be no bargain, young Jedi.
I shall enjoy watching you die.
You gotta go a long goddamned way to make Caroll Keaton-Rylander-Whatever-Pigass-Loudmouth-Bumfuckinhick look attractive by comparison, but this ungulate does just that and more.
is it hate speech or free speech when someone calls homosexuality immoral? maybe hate. is it hate speech or free speech when someone calls a woman a slut who fucked her way to the top? maybe hate.
Actually, there is a difference. We would put the latter in the category of Free Speech and the sub-category of Political Satire. We believe it's obvious that what we say is satirical in nature. Perhaps a feeble attempt at humor, but not hate. So, we encourage those elected officials to take it with good humor (as it is mostly intended) or perhaps if they are too thin-skinned they could stop running for public office, or they could perhaps say something intelligent every once in a while that did not deserve a satirical response. So, Wondering, hope that clears it up for you. Might we even suggest you consider what inspires our commenters to leave such strongly-worded comments? What prompts PinkDome to create a political satire of a person place or thing?
Thanks for the comment: (This comment posted using a privatley owned computer on private property)
i think pinkdome is clever. it inspires strongly worded comments because it is inspired by strongly worded entries. concerning what prompts the creation of it, i'd not presume to guess. i believe an occasional dissent is healthy, don't you? regarding free speech/political satire, i have never understood how personal insults, especially those of a sexual nature, towards women or gays, helps to make the point. but you're right, it is free speech. and so far, i haven't heard any elected officials barking for you to stop. (neither have i heard much intelligence.)

Mmmm...is that roast beef or turkey?
